Multiple Choice Letter Cards

These multiple choice letter cards can be used for formative assessment as well as various review games in the classroom.

Prep Instructions

Print the letter cards one-sided on card stock or regular colored paper. (Note: If you are only ever going to use the answer choices A-D, it is only necessary to print the first page.)

Laminate each sheet of letter cards. Cut the laminated letter cards apart along the given lines.

Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top left corner of each card. Stack the cards together so the holes line up. Join the cards together with a binder ring.

How I Use These in my Classroom

The simplest way to use these multiple choice letter cards is to give each student/pair/group of students a ring of cards. Pose a multiple choice question. Ask students to hold up their answers.

I used to do this sort of thing with individual dry erase boards, but I ran into the issue of groups waiting to write their answers until they had seen what other groups wrote or sneakily trying to change their answers.

I much prefer using the cards in conjunction with my mini magnetic pockets. I have each table submit their answer by flipping their ring of cards to the letter they are choosing and placing it in the magnetic pocket face down.

Once I can see that all groups have submitted their answers, I then flip over the answer cards to reveal the answers to the class one at a time.

Here’s a YouTube video I filmed about how I implement these multiple choice cards and mini magnetic pockets in my classroom.

Soon, I hope to blog about some of the specific review games I use these cards with. Coming soon!!
