Factorial Definition

The factorial of a non-negative integer, n, denoted by n!, is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to n.

Factorial Examples

For example, 5! is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to 5.

5! = 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 120

4! = 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 24

3! = 3 * 2 * 1 = 6

2! = 2 * 1 = 2

1! = 1

0! = 1

Double Factorial Definition

The double factorial of a non-negative integer, n, denoted by n!!, is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to n that have the same parity (even or odd) as n.

Double Factorial Examples

For example, 5!! is the product of all positive odd integers less than or equal to 5.

5!! = 5 * 3 * 1 = 15

4!! = 4 * 2 = 8

3!! = 3 * 1 = 3

2!! = 2
