Have fun practicing simplifying square roots with this free printable bingo game that features 40 bingo cards, a call sheet with answers, and a PowerPoint file to project the radicals for students to simplify.

I recently created a new template to hopefully make generating bingo games for my classroom faster and easier. As an experiment to see if my template was working, I decided to make this simplifying square roots activity because my Algebra 3 students majorly struggled with this topic whenever it would pop up.
In Oklahoma, simplifying square roots is an Algebra 1 topic, so my Algebra 3 students have definitely been exposed to radicals before. But many of them still feel uncomfortable working with radicals. I’m hoping that playing this game at the beginning of the year will help review this topic in a fun way.
This bingo game is just one of many free printable math bingo games that I have created for my own classroom and am sharing with you!
Bingo Cards
This two step equations bingo game features 40 different bingo cards to print to allow for a multitude of class sizes.
With bingo cards, I tend to print a class set of bingo cards and slide them into dry erase pockets so they can be reused from class to class. When we’re done, I slide them out of the pockets and put them into my file cabinet for next year.
Bingo Call Sheets
I created two different versions of bingo call sheets for this simplifying radicals bingo game. One features both the radical and the solution. The other features only the radicals to be simplified.
In my own classroom, I slide the call sheet into a dry erase pocket so I can mark off each problem as I call it out.
But you could also laminate the call sheet and cut it apart into individual cards that could be drawn from a small bowl. If you did this with the version without answers, you could turn this into a small group center activity where students played by themselves in a group.
PowerPoint Slides
If you have access to Microsoft PowerPoint, I have created a set of slides that can be projected to display the equation for students to solve on the screen. Animations should make the answer appear at the bottom of the slide upon a click.
There are actually two powerpoint files included. They include the same problems but in scrambled order in case you want to play more than once!
Don’t have PPT? I did try my hand at uploading the file to Google slides. It seemed to handle the animations just fine.
