2025-2026 Free Printable Lesson Plan Book

Looking for a customizable lesson plan book that is completely free to print and use in your classroom? As a teacher with varying numbers of preps from year to year, I couldn’t find a pre-made one that I loved. So, I created my own!

(Yes, I know digital planning exists. Yes, I know many people love it. But it just doesn’t work for me. I need paper and pencil. I need to write my plans on post-it notes and physically move them around in my lesson plan book.)

The 2025-2026 school year starts soon for me, so that means it is time to put together this year’s free printable lesson plan book. If you want to create one for yourself, I am sharing the files so you can print and customize your own lesson plan book for the 2025-2026 school year.

Choose Your Number of Preps

This free lesson plan book is designed primarily for middle school or high school teachers who teach between two to six different preps or courses.

Don’t need a lesson plan book? You could also print it and use it as a daily to-do list with sections for “Before School,” “Planning Period,” and “After School.”

I would have liked to have marked this task of creating my lesson plan book off my to-do list earlier in the summer, but I am always nervous that they are going to change up my teaching schedule without asking me.

This year, I will be teaching two sections of Algebra 3, two sections of AP Precalculus, one section of AP Calculus AB, and one section of Statistics.

Design Your Cover

On the front of the lesson plan book, I added the school year, my name, and a list of the courses I will be teaching. I keep my lesson plan books from previous years in a magazine holder by my desk, so adding the list of courses has been useful for when I want to look back at how I structured a course in the past.

The editable PDF files at the bottom of this post include two version of the lesson plan book cover. They are identical except for the fact that one includes the school’s name and one does not.

When you type the names of your preps onto the cover page, the names will automatically generate on the pages throughout the entire lesson plan book. So cool!

Printing the Lesson Plan Book

Figure out which date pages correspond to your school calendar. You will not be printing the PDF in its entirety.

The dates on the pages range from the last week of July 2025 to the end of July 2026.

Important: In order for the double-sided pages to print properly, you will need to print the first left-hand page single sided. Then, you will print the subsequent pages that you need double-sided.

Assembling the Lesson Plan Book

There are several ways you can put together your lesson plan book. The easiest way would be to hole-punch the pages and place it inside a binder.

I prefer to make a stand-alone lesson plan book using my trusty binding machine.

Some years, I add a colored binding cover to serve as the back of my lesson plan book.

This year, I used a clear plastic cover on both the front and back of the lesson plan book.
