Drawing on Your Head Christmas Party Game

Put your drawing skills to the test with this Christmas party game which involves drawing on top of your head.

This drawing game is one of my go-to activities for those last couple of days of school when semester tests are already finished.

Supplies

Each participant will need something to draw with (preferably a marker) and something stiff to draw on. I have often seen this game played by having people draw on paper plates with a marker.

Since I’m a high school teacher on a budget, I have my students use an individual dry erase board and a dry erase marker to write with.

If you have a class set of clipboards, you could use these instead of the dry erase boards with regular copy paper on top.

Game Instructions

Have the players put their paper on their head. Give the following instructions:

  1. Draw a line for a floor.
  2. Draw a Christmas tree. Add decorations if you feel so inclined.
  3. Draw a star on top of your tree.
  4. Draw a fireplace with a mantel next to the tree.
  5. Draw a stocking hanging from the mantel of your fireplace.
  6. Draw a present below the tree.

After the six steps have been given, let everyone look at their drawing.

Source of Game

I discovered this game while scrolling through Facebook. It caught my eye because the people in the picture were sitting in a restaurant with plates on top of their heads.

There are multiple blog posts with the same game instructions printed out, so I think it has become a classic Christmas party game.

My Students’ Results

Curious what the results of this game might look like? Take a look at my students’ artwork.

My students ended up really enjoying this activity.  It’s a definite keeper!

  2. We did this today in my 8th grade homeroom. I modified slightly and had them draws snowmen as not all my students celebrate Christmas. The whole class loved it! By first period the drawings were up on the walls, and the five classes that came throughout the day begged to try as well. Thank you for sharing:) Not sure I can top this, and we have 4 days to go!
