These are the notes my Algebra 2 students took in their interactive notebooks over absolute value functions.

I found this absolute value transformations graphic organizer online. The site where I downloaded it no longer exists, so I am uploading the file at the bottom of this post.

In one class, one of my students wanted to write “It went jogging” or “It went on a diet” to describe the transformation of number 5 above. My students definitely know how to make me smile! Life is definitely never dull around them.

We used the graph paper index cards I bought to draw the parent graph of an absolute value function. We also took notes over what each part of an absolute value equation does to the graph.
