These free printable magic square puzzles will put your addition and mental math skills to the test. Can you complete each grid so that each row, column, and main diagonal have the exact same sum!
What is a Magic Square?
A magic square is a square grid with numbers placed in each cell of the grid. The numbers in each horizontal row of the grid, the numbers in each vertical column of the grid, and the numbers along each main diagonal have the exact same sum.
The concept of a magic square is the basis for many different types of logic puzzles.
3×3 Magic Square Puzzles
These basic 3×3 magic square puzzles involve placing number tiles in each square of the grid so that a magic square is formed with a specific sum value for each row/column/diagonal.

Digit Addition Puzzles
These puzzles require adding digits to the right of some of the digits already in the grid in order to form a square where each row and column have the exact same sum.
These are technically not magic square puzzles since they do not have main diagonals with the same sum as well when the puzzle is complete. But, they are still lots of fun!
Puzzle Solutions
Puzzle solutions are available on a password-protected solution page. I do not openly post the puzzle answer keys because one of my goals as a resource creator is to craft learning experiences for students that are non-google-able. I want teachers to be able to use these puzzles in their classrooms without the solutions being found easily on the Internet.

I frequently have students emailing me for the answer key, so please specify in your email what school you teach at and what subjects you teach. If you do not provide these details, I will not be able to send you the password.
